Twist shows monthly and historical Twitter trends

We have been keeping track of the public Twitter timeline for a few months now. Until a few days all Twist showed was a 7-day window, but now you can select monthly and historical trends. For example, it seems that in late April people start talking more about the summer than about the spring:

Also, you can see weekly patterns. Check out how weekend is mentioned more around Labor Day Weekend.

  1. I really like the ability to compare trends. I find it very useful.

    Is there a way that I can isolate the trend by region, say find out what’s hot in LA or NYC?

  2. We are working on it. For now there is barely enough traffic on Twitter to be able to see trends for the most discussed concepts. As Twitter usage grows, we will be able to show stats for the cities where Twitter is the most popular.

    It is a very useful tool, providing perspective and information all at once! Well done guys! The nicest thing, from my perspective? It brings into focus just how important our various pursuits really are in the grand scheme of things. Your tool allows us to stand at the top of the Empire State Building, figuratively of course, and look down. It brings everything into focus, while providing a perspective we could never achieve from where we stand…or sit! Which for many of us is behind a monitor.
